At HUG Homeschool Group, our primary goal is to create a nurturing community that promotes a positive learning environment for all members. To ensure that our community thrives, we have established the following code of conduct:

  1. Respectful Behavior: We expect all members of HUG to treat each other with respect, kindness, and empathy. This includes showing respect towards all adults, property, homes, and other children within our community. We believe in fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and supported.

  1. No Bullying and Harassment: HUG has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards bullying and harassment. Any form of bullying, whether physical, verbal, or online, will not be tolerated. We are committed to providing a safe space where every individual feels secure and free from any kind of intimidation or harm.

  1. Disciplinary Process: HUG follows a three-step disciplinary process for addressing behavioral issues involving children and adults. The first step is a verbal warning, where the individual is reminded of the expected behavior. The parent of the child also needs to be made aware of the given verbal warning. If the behavior persists, a written warning will be sent via email by our founder, Miss Brittany.  If the behavior continues after both warnings, Miss Brittany will evaluate the circumstances case by case and maintains the right to remove the child from HUG or the class where the repeated misbehavior took place. We believe in giving everyone an opportunity to learn from their mistakes and grow, while ensuring the well-being of our community as a whole.

  1. Conduct in Public Spaces: When participating in activities as a group in public spaces, all members of HUG are expected to represent our community in a positive manner. We encourage respectful behavior towards others, including fellow homeschoolers, members of the public, and staff at external locations we may visit. It is important that we maintain a good reputation and foster positive relationships within the broader community.

  1. Parental Responsibility: Parents play a crucial role in maintaining a positive and conducive learning environment. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure their children's behavior aligns with the values of HUG. We expect parents to actively participate and support their children's education, including helping to maintain appropriate behavior and attitudes. As part of their involvement, all parents will be required to contribute to HUG by signing up to host a class, club, or event. This includes setting the date and time, location, planning activities, coordinating resources within our group, and overseeing the clean-up and set-up of the event. We believe that the active involvement of all parents in organizing and participating in major events and projects is essential for fostering a strong sense of community and ensuring the success of such activities.
